STOCKTON – At 9:30 a.m. Monday, Rudy Rodriguez emerged from the Emergency Food Bank of Stockton/San Joaquin carrying a cardboard box containing canned goods, cookies, juice and a prized turkey. After more than six hours in line, his wait at the food bank’s annual pre-Thanksgiving grocery giveaway had paid off.

“I’ve got a family of four: a wife and two kids,” Rodriguez said. “This gives us something we can’t afford.”
