STOCKTON, Calif. – PUENTES invites the general public to attend a series of free garden and composting workshops at the Community Supported Garden located at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds.

Those interested in attending a free workshop should contact Rey Ledesma, Garden Coordinator, at (209) 983-1258 to RSVP.

 The themes of the classes will be:

Urban Composting: Turn kitchen scraps and yard waste into a rich soil amendment for your garden.

Compost and Mulch for your Soil: Learn how to apply compost and mulch in the garden to conserve water, minimize weeds, and improve the quality of soil.

Introduction to Permaculture: A basic introduction to Permaculture, including the demonstration of sheet mulching, water catchments, edible landscaping, and other permaculture techniques.

All classes will be held at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds, 1658 Airport Way, Stockton, CA, 95206. Classes will be held inside the Fairgrounds behind Building 6, at the PUENTES Community Supported Garden. Free parking is available at the Fairground Parking Lot.

 

 Classes will be held from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM on the following dates:

  • Urban Composting: Saturday, October 15, 2011
  • Compost and Mulch for Your Soil: Saturday, November 5, 2011
  • Introduction to Permaculture: Saturday, November 19, 2011
